Well to be honest with you it could be one of two things
ONE: It could be the lamp depending on how old it is this lamps are good for a average time of 2-4 years so that could be it depending how old it is most likely the lamp is the problem 80%
TWO: It could be the ballast board it could be wearing out and it is to weak to turn on the lamp this problem usually happens with new lamps 20%
I found a place that sales the lamp you need

Hi, most likely the issue is the bulb, specially if the TV is around 3+ years old.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

The picture come on then goes black and then the television turns off. I thought it might be a bulb problem (4 years old). So I bought a new bulb, seemed to work and then began to go black again with all 3...

when the colorwheels start to go bad this is the symtom that shows up. try this listen carefully to the rear of the tv near the lamp door. as you turn off the tv if you hear a slight grinding noise as the colorwheel slows down that means the bearings inside the colorwheel are dry and you will need to replace the colorwheel.

I just replaced lamp in hln5065w but still not getting a picture when i turn on just middle light blinking....when i look at the back of tv lamp doesn't appear to be coming on but checked connection and...

- make sure your cover is placed back ON or put a tape over switch cover.
- Are you getting any sound? if so, check your connection on the ballast.
- You should have one small green light ON from the back when TV is OFF. When you turn ON the TV manually or by remote, You should hear one click and then the color wheel starts turning, then the large light bulb should start to turn ON, then a few seconds later the sound and picture appears. If the remote or manual functiomn does not do anything,m then your DIGITAL board is gone. If you get the TV to turn ON and get something, there is a problem else where, probably ballast board near switch cover bottom right.

Screen wont come on

Your color wheel has gone bad. I recommend this repair to only be done by a qualified Samsung service center. Part costs less than $100

Sony WEGA Large Projection TV

I sounds like the projection bulb has failed. I think there is a red lamp on the front that lights up when the bulb fails however.
This sounds very similiar to what mine did when the bulb failed about 2 months ago. Once the buld fails the TV will shut itself down and keep doing that until the bulb is replaced.
