Hi,
I have just downloaded Skype - only to find that there is a problem with the Audio Recordings Setting and\or Microphone Setting
i.e. I cannot get my system to 'hear' me.
Can you help?
Many thanks. Kat.

There are many cause for your microphone is not working.
1)if there are some hardware problem in your microphone than solve it from electrician. 2)check your microphone setting in pc.enable audio input .check you installed audio driver or not. 3)if all things is ok than problem is in your skype.check your skype setting.try skype test call services. 4)reinstall your skype if above tricks not work.
If you are using skype open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment or control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it
You may just need to manually select your mic. Go to this free video mail site. Click on the mic icon and then try the choices in the drop down list. Record and play back brief recordings until you can hear yourself. Once you know the mic that works select it in Skype or other software program. It is usually under Settings, Audio.
Hi this seems to be a regular problem with skype im not sure what he problem you have encountered ? so here is a guide open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment or control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it
open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment or control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it's the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected you should be able scroll to video settings to make the right adjustments
You need to check the Microphone setting in Skype.
Open Skype, Click on Tools - Audio Settings, then in Microphone settings click the down arrow and select the built-in microphone then save the settings.
If the microphone you selected doesn't work then select a different one.
Skype: Skype-->Main window…..>Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device) You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even if the main speakers are off or turned down.
Windows: Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard (AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc. Your installed audio device must be present there. If not, reinstall audio device
2)Check if your micro (pink) and speaker (lime) jacks are really correct and fully inserted! They sometimes stuck. For test only you can use earphone instead of microphone for Line In. Standard micro in Line In will NOT work. Go to: Start Programs Accessories Entertainment or go to Volume Control; right click on loudspeaker icon in Task Tray Options Microphone Scroll down Check "Microphone" If the bar "Microphone" is available, the microphone is detected by Windows now go on (If not, Windows has a problem with your microphone) Just to check if your microphone is broken or bad, you can use your headphones instead. They really work! Which one L or R is microphone now, I think it's L Check "Advanced properties"
Check Micro "Advanced" Open Check "20db boost" or "1.MIC boost" depending on language version Volume level can be left in any position. Mute microphone!!!
3. Check audio now on windows base. Start Programs Accessories Entertainment Soundrecorder
4. Once done, test with Skype Test Call echo123.
Good Luck
Change skype sound setting. TO do that : Take Tools from the menu bar. Then select options. When a new window opens choose audio Setting. Then below microphone volume untick - "Automatically adjust microphone setting". Then drag the volume to maximum.
