SOURCE: microwave will not heat

Had the same problem--the timer would even count down. The magnetron fan would not turn on, and the microwave would not heat. Checked out several components, but ended up being just the door latch out of adjustment! Be sure to discharge the capacitor before messing around in there. It keeps a charge even when unplugged. Short out the unused terminal on the capacitor to a screw in the chassis, using a short length of insulated wire.

SOURCE: microwave oven

This is usually caused by a bad door switch or loose door switch mount but other common causes of a failure to heat are:

- loose connection at the magnetron
- problem or loose conneciton on the control unit circuit board
- bad magnetron or other high voltage part

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

This would be under warranty, so Maytag should take care of it for you: http://maytag.com/support/index.jsp

SOURCE: Microwave won't heat food.

My Whirlpool microwave, over the stove, stopped working when my son used it to heat his food and a heavy sound came out, like something exploded in it. When I check it, there was nothing broke. Everything works fine except that it does not heat. I will appreciate any help

Lg 700 w microwave everything is working as normal but the food is not heating up

There three parts that will cause this, the first is the magnetron "heats food" the most expensive part, followed by the high voltage capacitor and diode, they work in conjunction to generate the high voltage to cook the food.

Worked fine this morning. Everything seems to be working, but it is not heating the food. What part needs replacing? How do you test a magnetron?

Everything appears to work fine but it is not heating anymore.

If the microwave oven appears to be working but it is not heating the food, it is very possible that the magnetron, or its power supply has failed.

Kenmore Microwave Won't Heat Food

The service manual is here.

Unless there's a bad connection at a magnetron terminal, I would say you have a failing magnetron.

It is part number 2B71165R and you can get it from the Pros here for $68.59 (subject to change).
