If you pause the song that is playing and press the MODE button located on the side of the player it will give you the option of viewing the folder you are currently listening to. Selecting the / will take you out of the folder to a main menu. Everything is usually divided into Artist, Album, songs.
You can open the device on your computer and manually rearrange folders and songs in order to make a custom playlist.

How do I copy a CD, playable on a CD player?

Hello,
1. First make sure you have some blank CD-R's. 2. Put one in the drive and load iTunes. 3. Make a playlist and select the songs you want and add them to the playlist. 4. When you have the songs you want (no more then 70min worth) highlight the playlist by clicking it 5. Now press the iTunes File Menu and select burn playlist to DISC. 6. In the disk format make sure Audio CD is selected. 7. Press Burn.
You can now use this disk on a CD player.

I want to down load a song on my computer to a disc. How do I do this?

* First you should have a CD/DVD Burner on your computer (ordinary CD player would not work).
* Load the blank disc into the DVD burner
* Open the folder where the song is, highlight the song by clicking it once.
* Click on "copy this file" and then select the DVD drive.
* Then the file should start downloading.

Have a great day!

Unintentionally, I hit a button I guess, and my menu comes up

That looks like a part # rather than a model #
here is a link where you can select your player or enter the model # and get the manual download in PDF Format.

I can't get a playlist onto my Sansa m240. I tried the method described on this site, and the name of the playlist came up, but said it had no files.

Creating Playlist
To create a playlist for Windows Media Player, follow these steps:
1. Launch Windows Media Player.
2. Clear the List pane by clicking the Clear List pane button.
3. Click the arrow below the Library Tab then select Create Playlist.
4. Type in the name of your Playlist.

5. Click Songs from Library then drag them from the Details pane to the List
Pane.
6. To rearrange the songs, drag them up or down in the List pane.
7. Click Save Playlist.
Transferring Playlists
To transfer playlists to your Sansa player, follow these steps:
1. Connect your Sansa player to the computer.
2. Select Sync digital media files to this devices using Windows Media
Player on initial connection.

Downloading my music and then burning to a cd

Have you read the section of manual relating to 'Importing CDs' ?

Select a playlist, press 'playlist edit' - press HD/CD - insert CD, close drawer. Once Alesis has scanned disc, press 'track move' - display should read Move CDTrk -> Trknn where 'nn' is the next available track in playlist. Press Cursor Left to place cursor under CDTrk, press Down/No, and display should read Move CD->Playlist. If you now hit Yes it will copy all CD tracks to the active playlist (it'll prompt if the playlist isn#'t empty to make sure you want to add the CD to the tracks already in the playlist).

Once they are copied to the playlist, you can move them around if required, DSP them, then burn that playlist to a blank CD

Phillips 4gb Go gear playlists

The Playlist feature only creates a "Playlist on the Go" from the player itself - you cannot transfer playlists to the player from your computer. A real let down, I know.
