Question about Maytag Neptune MDE5500AY Electric Dryer
My Dryer resets itself to the wrinkle release mode for 18 minutes regardless of what we set it for. During the 18 minute cycle, it beeps 4 - 6 times in quick succession. After the cycle ends, it will still occassionally beep a few times. Sometimes it will beep during the cycle, shut off and not allow us to restart it. We keep it unplugged most of the time now. There is nothing in the lint trap. We had a similar problem four years ago, but the dryer was still under waranty. They replaced the mother board, and it worked fine. I've called a service provider about replacing the mother board again and was quoted $391 for the job. Do you think that is the problem? Is there a less expensive way to fix it?
Our maytag neptune dryer control board keeps beeping and flipping into all its options the top and bottom dryer do i reset the computer? we've unplugged it but it continues

Usually answered in minutes!
I'm willing to give it a shot - where can I order the part and get directions to install it?
Sae thing just started happening to my dryer. Just keeps beeping.
My neptune dryer has the exact same symptoms as barbuff08's. I replaced the motherboard or(control board) and it did not cure the problem. Panel lights up normally most of the time, but pushing on any of the buttons sometimes does nothing at all.

the dryer just started beeping every 10/15 sec. unplugged it for several hours and that lasted about 1/2 hour and started again. Guess the next thing is to go into the electric end

OK, my Maytag Neptune dryer (MDE5500AYQ) starting acting up a few weeks ago.
It would only work on Wrinkle Release mode for 18 minutes regardless of what we set it for.
After a few days during the 18 minute cycle, it would beep 4 - 6 times in quick succession and shut down.
Soon, the entire control panel was dead and nothing worked at all, although I was able to start (and only start) the “service” mode by pressing the “damp dry & time-“ buttons.
Researching online led me to believe the control panel was at fault. Calling around I was quoted $350+ to get it replaced by a tech. So I ordered a new one.
The existing CP was model #33002918, the control board I purchased is a model #33003028; which I was told is a direct replacement.
After installing the replacement, not much better:
Control board is lit up, still on Wrinkle Release mode for 18m cycle, the start/pause button is flashing, but nothing works. I can not active the service mode, but was able to run a membrane pad check…all lights work….whoopee!
Help!!
If anybody found a solution to this issue, please post! There seems to be several people with the same problem. If it's not the control panel, I don't want to spend the $200.00 if I don't have to. Please e-mail me directly if you can - bgordon (AT) lakeariel.net. Thanks!
We have the same problem. The dryer kept resetting itself to 18 minute wrinkle release. We found we could not use the sensor dryer part so we started using the timed drying. Today it reset to wrinkle release again and I couldn't get it off that setting. It was periodically making a faint beeping sound. We unplugged the dryer and plugged it back in with no success. I just went back out to try again and it started and stopped. I tried again and it started and so far so good. From the look of these posts, I shouldn't hold my breath. Has anyone found an actual solution yet short of suing Maytag? I also noticed that our washer was the topic of a class action suit or which we were not notified. The washer grows mold and we are forced to run bleach through it regularly to try to get our clothes clean without the smell of mold. The time to redeem the coupons for a new dryer was up three years ago!!! (Tells you how long we have been suffering with this.) These appliances were our first and last Maytags.
I have the same problem and now it is both the washer and dryer control lights up and starts beeping in the middle of the night . You can't shut them off or reset them sometimes you can't even use them .so you have to unplug them from the power outlet . I wonder what has caused this to happen in the first place, maybe this is do to the many power outages we have had here and one low voltage or less than 120 volts to the circuits in the house. I still want answers to this phenomenon
it doesn't do it all the time mostly after a couple loads
