I formated my hp laptop and after i finished formating there was no sound on my laptop
Formatting your hard disk erases everything on the disk. Including drivers for hardware.
1. find out the make and model of your laptop.
2. Go to the manufacturer's website and look for "Technical support" or a similar section.
3. Generally within most "technical support" sections is an area for "Driver downloads." You will want to look for sound card drivers for your model of laptop.
4. Look for your model of laptop within the driver downloads section.
5. Download the package and run it's install program.
Alternatively, you may Google "Sound card drivers for [insert brand and model of laptop here]."
It will take a bit of effort using this the google method. The laptop manufacturer's website is usually the best place to look. (Note that in some cases, the manufacturer's website can identify the sound card in particular for your laptop model. You can then google the "driver for [insert soundcard brand and model number]". Or go to the soundcard manufacturer's website and download the driver for your brand and model of laptop from there.).
Alternative to the two above options (Assuming you have windows, and it is functioning after a reinstall), try the basics:
-Turn up the volume knob.
-Turn up the volume on the operating system through the sound control panel.
-If you have Windows, turn up the volume by right clicking the little speaker in the lower right corner of your screen. Be sure that there are NO mute options checked. Muting All turns off the volume for everything. Muting just the speaker, mutes the sound volume, but not everything else.
Most likely you need to replace your soundcard drivers, though. The process isn't difficult, but locating the right driver can have you pulling your hair out sometimes.
