Basically i have a 5.1 speaker set (logitech x 530) in my pc...
when i turn the speaker volume on the speaker itselelf down or max it makes
sum kinda hissing noise... i foned up logitech and they sent me a new
pair thinking there is a problem with the speakers... obviously it
wasnt because it still continued to happen...i thought well its the
motherboard but so to get around this i put the speaker volume to half
way and just used to use the system volume to tamper the audio
sound....
thing is my speakers... they still make the hissing noise when
lowered or maxed.. i have to keep the main speaker volume on half for the
hissing to stop its so annoying... can you tel me why this is
please... this is happening even when pc is turned off
I had the same problem for the longest time with my set of Logitech 540 5.1 speakers. Turns out the solution was pretty simple. All I did was open the Master Volume controller and mute the Microphone. Hissing went to zero. Sound is great now.
Yes, it is definitely the speakers themselves. Is it an extremely loud hissing noise, or soft and just annoying? most speakers tend to give off a small amount of noise when put on loud volumes. This is especially true of Logitech, because while they are a great company (I personally have their G15 keyboard, MX revolution mouse, and both the Z-680 and Z-5500 speaker models, and love them), they tend to use cheap parts to cut costs. If what you are experiencing is pretty loud, however, you may want to call them up again.
It is most likely either the amplifier itself, or one of the speakers. listen to each speaker independantly- do you hear one in specific making the hissing sound? if so, you found your culprit, and you can call logitech again to fix that problem, telling them which speaker it is. if the sound is being distributed equally, among all 5, then the amplifier is the culprit.
hope this helps.
