Question about Logitech MediaPlay Cordless Mouse

Smooth scrolling Each time I click the scroll wheel or bar a wave goes through the page as it scrolls in every program and online, checking email etc. This does not seem to be a mouse problem, I have checked all settings and I am updated all hardware downloads. The mouse is a Logitech MX 600, and I am using Windows XP with a Verizon DSL connection.

Do you mean like a slow "ripple" as it scrolls? Sounds like you need to update your video driver.

SOURCE: Wheel will not do just a standard scroll

You should make sure that you have the LX7 Setpoint software installed to set the features you want. For the scroll button or button three if pressed, I have mine set to zoom (first selection). The scroll function of the wheel should be automatic. Go the mouse movement settings and set the scroll size to 6 lines. That should allow you to scroll your pages adequately. If this helps send a reply for others to view.

SOURCE: Auto Scroll Stops working

Hello,

Would you be willing to try this solution although it alone may not immediately solve your problem?

Once you attempt this and let me know what results you have, I can then move to the next most likely place to examine.

You see, the problem is that the "properties" values for a scroll wheel are set in several different areas of Windows. Therefore, it would potentially be necessary to do down the list of them one at a time until the problem is discovered. OK?

First then, go into Control Panel, in this area is Internet Options (this applies to Internet Explorer an not Firefox, Safari or Chrome), go to Advanced Properties for Internet Explorer and you should find a check box for smooth scrolling. Un check that box and then reboot Windows.

Let me know if the problem repeats itself in the same amount of time or not. Once I have that info I can take you to the next option to troubleshoot. Be aware that this may take quite a while. I've been through this with my Logitech Mouse and I came down to having to remove and reinsert the USB cable time and time again.

So let me know your results.

Regards,
Worldvet

My scroll wheel skips, jumps, scrolls backward or on its own. Can I fix it?

Take the roller ball out of the bottom of your mouse if it's the older style and clean the dirt and dust of the roller wheels with a q tip and alcohol. If it is an optical mouse try putting a piece of white paper under it when you use it this may help. If not it is time for a new one.

How do you make the page scroll smoothly in windows xp i have tried checking the smooth scrolling box in tools but nothing happens. The wave scrolls in waves.

Hello,
I think you issue is the stuttering effect of scrolling.
Actually in windows, the way of behaving of the mouse scroll wheel is likely controlled by the device driver... So checking the smooth scrooling option may not work. So you can find updated drivers for your mouse which can resolve your issue.
Also, you can do one thing... Go to the menu that controls the options for your mouse.... the menu where you change the mouse pointer's speed. There, go to the " Wheel" menu and lessen the no. of lines to be scrolled per scrolling of the wheel. I hope I am successful in resolving your issue.
Thank you...

Scroll mouse is choppy when I am trying to scroll. It sometimes even goes back up. Very irritating.

Try going into your Control Panel, go into the Mouse controls, and change the wheel scroll settings. There's a "lines to scroll" option that determines how much or little the wheel moves the page. Try changing this number up or down and see if the problem gets any better. Does the scroll wheel feel OK? is it sticky or hard to turn? is it smooth and loose?

Scroll Wheel does not work with some programs.

If you set the mouse wheel to one page at a time for the scroll wheel and install the FF add-on SmoothWheel the scroll wheel will work fine, you can even use the FF add-on to change the scroll amount even more (with the SmoothWheel add-on install in FF the "one page at a time" isn't really one page it goes by the add-ons rules, which is 1/7's page.

My monitor has a horrible lag

Your monitor should have a reasonable to good refresh rate so I doubt it's at fault. It sounds as if you have another program running in the background which is slowing your computer down. Press the keys CTRL. ALT and DELETE at the same time and have a look to see what's running. Close down any programs you aren't using and see if that fixes things. Another problem could be a shortage of memory. I'd recommend no less than 512 Megabytes or ram with Windows XP. If you could give me more info as to which operating system you're using, how fast is the CPU and how much memory etc it would be easier to diagnose. One last thing, you could have a virus and it's chewing up memory. Do you have an up to date virus checker? If not install AVG. it's completely free and available on the net. While you're at it install a spyhunter program and malware checker. There's some weird rogue nasties crawling all over the net. You could've even installed a nasty along with a freebie program you got off the net. BMW
