Magic focus blue is fine, green and red are really blurry, tv picture is almost black and white. all bulbs are on.

It is possible that you have a shorted green CRT, you can remove the front speaker cover, and you will fine a focus block, and if you turn down the green screen voltage, very slowly, the green should turn down. if not then the gun (CRT) will have to be replace, If it does turn down, then go into the menu and turn the color are the way down and that should give you a black and white picture. If it is not black and white. adjust the red, blue, and green screen voltages until you receive a good black and white picture. Turn slowly they are touchy, and if turn to high, you will get retrace lines and the TV will shut down.

I know these models came out around 2001, and I'm afraid that the problem sounds like it is related to the bulb going bad.

I know bulb replacement is an option. You may want to call around to TV repair shops and see what your options are. In the end, though, it may be time to start saving up for a new TV.

I would say the crt's are at the end of their life.

if you are viewing from a projection tv, chances are you have to go thru the menu of the tv to 'picture tuning'. here it gives you different things that could be fixed. one to look for is 'lamp alignment'. It should show all the colors and lines with directions to bring them into focus. This should fix the blurriness and 3-d red/green/white separations. hope this helps you!

How can I fix it? The magic foucs goes to two or three lines and goes back to the picture. The sides are blurry, like red and green.

You have a focus and screen control box it has 3 controls on top 3on bottom these are the controls for Red-Green-Blue screen drives and for focus to each tube. IT should have Focus /Screen on it.

i think there may be some dead pixels.try to check it

I have a blue-ish yellow ghost tint which just appeared on my 51" 51SWX20B made July 2002. Did the magic focus got a number 5 at the end. Did you get a number when you did the magic focus?

go into menu turn color off see if you have a black and white picture if not adjust red,green, and blue screen drive on controls in back of tv you have red, green, blue it will have focus /screen controls cover each tube do one at a time blue focus and screen drive adjust to clear blue picture do all 3 tubes, then adjust them to where you have a black&white picture once this is done turn color controll back on.Thank You for using FixYa and Have a Nice Day.

What you may have needed to do was adjust the green & blue crt screens to match the red. Go into your picture menu adjust, turn color all the way down to a black & white px. Now adjust each crt screen so that you end up with a true black & white px. Then adjust each focus control to get a sharp px, have your tv on a channel like the home shopping network so you can adjust each crt focus one at a time for clarity by cover the other 2 up. Then go back into picure adjust & turn color ahlf way up, you should see a better px.
