Try going to http://www.apple.com/ca/ipod/download/index_cgi.html . Download that program, install it, then open it and plug in the ipod. If it works u should be able to click restore and your ipod will work.

SOURCE: putting songs onto it
You might not have a type of file that is supported by your mp3 player. I use online converters and change them all to wma because our players can play that and they are smaller than mp3s.

I had the same problem but on different computers, home works great, office won't detect it.
Try using some other computer just to see if it the players fault.
I am loving my ilo, but its just day 2 so hope it stays good

Try reseting the unit.
1) Slide the hold switch to on
2) Turn power on.
3) While unit screen says hold, push: (mode)(-)(+)(-)(+)(mode)(+)(mode)
This should reset it.
