Hi there! I have a moffat stove and hopefully these instructions help you.
First clear out the racks in your oven. Take them out and remove any excess chunks at the bottom.
Then close your oven door and lock it by pulling the lock latch.
Now looking at your oven knobs [not your burner knobs] turn both of them so they are both on the arrow knob [your oven knobs should have small pictures on them and both should have arrows]
Now you need to set the time so in the middle of your oven their should be a timer and one start and stop timer on top of each other. Both timers go in increments of half an hour. So if you are starting your self cleaner at 3 move the dial to 3 or if you are starting at 3:30 move the dial to one tick after 3. Once you set your start timer, you need to set your stop timer.
Setting your stop timer, it is recommended to set it for 3-5 hours. I set mine for 4 hours. So then set stop timer to time you want the cleaning to be. If you set your start timer at 3:30 put your stop timer at 7:30.
The oven will start cleaning according to the time you set. The oven will get very hot. I recommend to not used the burners as the temperature goes to 500 degrees! You will smell an odor and that is your oven cleaning.... Hope this helps...

How do I turn the temp down after oven has been on for a while. 'Loc on' message is showing and will not allow me to turn oven on.

Can you provide some additional details to help me help you? What kind of stove (make/model) and does it have any kind of self clean mode?

Without knowing the above details generally speaking of the oven is already preheated, to change the temperature you would hit the bake/preheat button to then adjust temp up or down with a digital stove. The dial stove from is self explainatory!

That loc on message may be because you have a stove lock lever or feature that prevents the stove from being opened when enabled, or when the stove is self cleaning. This may prohibit the adjust meant of temperature when the lock is on, or the stove is running through the self clean..

Again all just a general thought without knowing the above information... if you can post back or let me know is this was helpful in anyway to you! Thanks!!

The circut breaker on the rear of the stove trips and must be reset every time the oven self cleanui=ing is engaged (Model # PLES399EC). How can this be fixed or prevented?

Hi,

The best thing to do is not use your self cleaning feature....

Whoever invented that has caused way more problems then it solved...

It is a featured designed pruely to sell product because people are inherently lazy and because it burns up good products and then they get to sell more...

I have an electric Maytag stove/oven but don't know how to use the self cleaning feature. What do I do?

Never ever use the self cleaning feature. It is there to make your life a little easier, but it also damages elements, door locks and control boards. The heat is just too aggressive. We see it here VERY often. It is a great way for the appliance makers to earn income in spares. Use the traditional method, spray walls, base and racks in the oven with Easy Off - No Odor Foam, and put a large roasting pan of boiling water in the middle shelf (this prevents the spray drying off). Leave overnight, and wash off in the morning.

Self cleaning oven

If your unit has such a feature, you can use it.  Get the manual from the company website.  It is located under customer support, generally.
If your unit does not have a cleaning feature, you cannot do this yourself since the temperature is higher than the oven can be set and the door cannot be locked to prevent injury.

Old Amana - no manual; can't operate self clean feature

Can you locate the model number on the oven? Also any particular name of the stove? The manufactured year. These should all be available on a stainless steel or aluminum attached plate , probably on the back of the stove or inside the door.
I wouldn't try using the self cleaning feature until we get some advice. it could lock up on you and not UNLOCK. Normally self cleaning takes place at 600 or more degrees .

I'm sure others still have the same stove., I will see what I can find for you.
