I have a 25 year old Casablanca Intel--touch that quit working about the same time we had a power surge that knocked out our DVD. No fan or light. I had the original switch and was able to obtain a W-32 replacement switch. I put the new switch on today and still nothing. What do I do next?

Sounds like the board fried, the early IT board is very sensitive to power surges unfortunately and it's surprising it still worked as long as it did. This fan would be from approximately 1985, so it should have the RMM-1 board which can do "Flik" mode without the control. As a test, remove the light, and unplug the Light Drive Module in the switch housing, and then apply power. The fan, if it is going to work, will start on low and work it's way up to high. If the fan board is indeed fried, it will do nothing. You may be able to get re-imbursement for replacing the board from your power company, or to replace the entire fan with another IT unit.

I have a casablanca intellitouch ceiling fan and if you change a bulb while the unit is powered on you ruin the control board. The control boards are expensive but easily replaced by a diy-er. I think I have encountered this problem twice. These fans are very well made and in the past I decided it was worth repairing. However with the new fan technology out there it would be wise to shop around and weigh your options.

Remote control have become sticky -- cleaning seems to make it worse.

I have the same problem; the remote has become quite disgusting to touch. I recently sent a complaint to the company via the customer service page on the Casablanca Fan web site. They are sending a replacement, no questions asked, so clearly the problem is known to them and they have no solution other than replacement.

How do you program a casablanca fan remote control to work for the fan?

Howdy,

Casablanca control systems are specific, for instance Inteli-Touch (4 button wall control with power fan light and reverse buttons) uses power line signals to a computer board inside the fan's motor housing and a remote control using RF will not work. However, you do not state what control you have, or what specific control you wish to attempt to use with the fan. Some will work some, will not.

Thanks and Reply so I can better help you!

Casablanca fan stopped working suddenly, both fan & light

You must 'reset' the remote. I've had it happen quite a few times.
1. Turn off power to fan. Then back on.
2. Using remote cycle the following fan buttons from high to med to low, then from low to med to high again. That 'should' fix the problem.

My casablanca fan versa touch 2 does not respond to remote control - batery is fine, breaker fuse too. I recall having a same problem some time ago, forgot, how I fixed it - I know it was something with...

I believe there is a dipswitch, and a non- dipswitch version. To sinc the remote to receiver, shut power off to the fan receiver by either a switch or breaker for about 10 minutes, turn power back on and press Hi, Medium, Low on the remote in that order. this should get them "talking" again. If this does not work, contact toll-free Jason at Fan Man Lighting 1-866-600-3267, he has 30 years experience with casablanca
