Just noticed your post while looking into a different issue. It may be something called a "convergence issue," apparently not an expensive repair. I did not know this last month when the repairman charged $500. Just noticed your post while looking into a different issue. Tv making and have clicking sounds as tv shutdown as lights flashes?Yes.The board that call the Ballast board might be dying and dead soon. This Ballast board job responsible only are to ingnite the tv projection lamp only.
The
power light keeps flashing and the tv won't turn on. If you unplug for a
minute and hit the power button it sound like it is coming on then it
shuts off and the red power light flashes slowly. The TV is a Panisonic
1080i HDTV, about 6-7 years old.
After the red 2 flashing starts, press the power button on the front of the TV and hold pressed down for ten seconds.
You will hear a faint click comming from the back of set.
After 10 sec release the button and wait 10 more seconds then press the start button and release right away.
The green light flashes and the bulb attempts to start.
I found my picture will turn on on the third attempt of the bulb restarting.
When you do this and the room is dark you can see the bulb attempt to restart, My bulb has restarted on the third restart every time.
(note: The three start attempt happen after I do the button pressing
1 time and I do not need further button pressing restarts.
I think panasonic needs to let us know what the problem is.
I called Panasonic and they told me to plug it into a wall plug by itself.
I have it plugged into a multi plug adaptor now and have not tried this yet.
1. Press the power button to turn the unit on.
2. There are 3 choices for this step, depending on the housing part number:
A. TY-LA1000, TY-LA1500 or TY-LA2005 While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the PIP or SPLIT button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
B. TY-LA1001 or TY-LA2006 While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
C. TY-LA2004 While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the MUTE button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.
3A. When the reset procedure is complete the the following screen will appear: LAMP TIME WAS RESET TO 0 (this screen may be different from the actual screen)
OR
3B. The POWER and LAMP LED's on the front of the unit will flash for 5 seconds. (TY-LA2006)
When the lamp time reset is finished, the LAMP indicator goes out. It may be necessary to attempt the procedure several times.
You need to have your Panasonic remote. 1. Make sure the power cord is plugged into a properly grounded outlet and turn on the set with the power button on the projection unit or the remote control.
2. While holding down the (VOL -) key on the projection unit press the PIP or SPLIT key at the same time. Hold it for longer than 5 Seconds. The PIP or SPLIT key is model specific:
PIP for Models: PT-50LC13/PT-60LC13/PT-50LCX63/ PT-60LCX63/PT-43LCX64/ PT-50LCX64/PT-60LCX64
SPLIT for Models: PT-43LC14/PT-50LC14/PT-60LC14
3. When the unit resets the lamp timer it will display a screen on the TV indicating it was reset to zero. You press recall on the remote to exit.
You will find a PDF of the instructions at this site: http://fixyourdlp.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/panasonic-tyla1000-lamp-instructions.pdf
You have a bad lamp. The "clicking" sound you hear is the ballast (lamp power supply) attempting to start the lamp. The warning on Panasonics that comes up on screen does so when the life expectancy of the lamp is approaching. Otherwise your "clicking" sound and the red light on front are saying bad lamp. When you replace the lamp remeber to follow the instruction that Panasinc provides with the new lamp on restetting the lamp timer. This is usually done with the volume down on the TV and the PIP button on the remote.
