Dew warning is normal and means condensation has been detected the camera.
Usually this happens when you take the camera from a warm room to a cold external place or vice versa.
Wait for about an hour or so for the camera to acclimatise.
Also try this, take the bottom cabinet off, with the lcd panel facing you and the camera turned upside down and the cassette housing pointing away from you you will see 2 wide gold cables plugged into the right side of the board, realitively the same size, the gold cable that is between the main pcb and the mechanism assy is the control cable pull it our of the connector and clean it with alcohol, you can even take it one step further and evenly trim just a hair of the cable off all the way across just so that it has a new place to set. This has worked for me over 100 times in the past years. Seasoned camcorder technician 13 years experience. [email protected]

dew drops form on the glass. This clinging

• When dew forms in your camcorder.
Dew will gradually form on the head drum
of your camcorder and make the video
tape stick to the head. This causes
damage both to the head and the tape.
When dew forms, recording and playback
may not function properly.
Dew is likely to form in the following
—When moving the camcorder from a
cold place to a warm place.
—When placing the camcorder in a cold
room which is then heated rapidly.
—When moving the camcorder outdoors
from an air conditioned room or car.

camcorder indoors after skiing, place it in

If dew forms, the word “DEW” flashes on
the screen, and the power will automatically

leave the cassette compartment open,

LA HUMEDAD CON EL CALOR ALTERA Y HACE QUE EL SENSOR DE HUMEDAD DE LA CAMARA SE ACTIVE. YO PROBE CON UNA SECADORA DE PELO DE MI MUJER Y ME FUNCIONO. LA CAMARA AHORA ESTA BUENA. HABRE EL MECANISMO DEL TAPE (CASETERA) Y SOPLA CON EL SECADOR DE PELO DURANTE UN RATO DENTRO DEL MECANISMO DE LA CAMARA TAMBIEN ALRREDEDOR DEL LUGAR DE LA BATERIA Y ALRREDEDOR DEL BOTOM ROJO REC-VHS-OFF, DEJALA HABIERTA UN RATO Y PRUEBA DESPUES PONIENDOLA A FUNCIONAR. DEBERA FUNCIONARTE CORRECTAMENTE Y SIN EL WARNING-DEW DETECTED
I don't know if this will help, but when I leave the camera open with no tape in it for a day or so, "dew" goes away. Now I just store it open without a tape in it and have never had this problem again.
Turn your camera on. When you get the dew detected warning, take your battery off and just hit the spot where your battery was a few times with your palm, not too hard, but not really soft. Put the battery back on and it should be fixed unless you actually do have a dew problem!
If that doesn't work, try drying it out with a hair dryer.
