I recently was watching my 1999 Hitachi rear projection big screen tv and turned it off for a while and when I went to turn it back on the sound and the picture did not turn on...... I do not even hear a click. But if I let it sit for a long time it will turn on and work for a short while and then the picture and the sound goes out...... any ideas?

Had a problem with my Hitachi Big screen projection TV, TV would turn on but had no picture, didnt matter what input it was on, the DVD and Playstation had no picture either, read that there is a known corrosion issue with the sockets, all that you need to do is unplug and plug everything back in several times in a row to break through the corrosion to allow for a new and clean connection.
It sounds that lamp in TV is weak and not throwing enough light to bright the screen for good image. How old is this TV and did you replaced its Lamp recently? If lamp has not been replaced yet or in last 2-3 years, replace it.
