Could you give me a list of Kirby models & the years they were released from 1996 so that I will know how old they are?

BEWARE you must ALWAYS contact the seller before buy this kind of parts and give up your serial number ofthe vaccuum because of marketing technical correct parts to get as if it was or not modified by knowing the year of build and production type.

I think what you are asking is how to fit a new hose machine end, (hard plastic bit that connects the hose to the kirby body) to the rest of the corrugated hose?.
If this is right it does vary with the really old models but for the G3 and newer which is everything up to about 20 years old it is the same and quite easy.
All you have to do is heat the end of the hose up with hot water - not boiling or you will shrink the hose and kind of twist the new end on. You will need to have removed the old one first which is the same just heat up and twist off.

Replace the transmission. The tranny that drives these Kirbys can give you problems.

how old is your kirby, it has a 3 year anything and everything warranty...after that, it has a lifetime anything goes, limited warranty, which means you mail it back to the factory or bring it to a kirby dealer and for 175. you get a brand new kirby, and it will be the latest model out. Kirby dealer's are hard to find since they only do in home sales, but your paper work, should have the 1 800 number, and you can ask them about delivery, mail in, and other options. hope this helps.

Hi There
I have got a Kirby 2 HG vacuum cleaner which is around 20 years old now. It was going really well until last week when one of the capacitors which are connected to the brushes blew up. There is two capacitors one for each brush. One of them completely blew to bits and the other one is still intact. My question is are they the same size and where do I get a new one from.
I know it is an old machine, but I would like to fix it and get it going again. Any tips???

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Yes, I think you are referring to the carbon brushes for the Kirby II HG and it is a good idea to change both of them @ the same time to be able to wear the same. Having 2 different sizes could affect the motor performance and the carbon brushes / capacitors and it would wear uneven. If you are referring to the brushroll, replace it with a genuine Kirby brushroll and to do a belt change every 4 to 6 months.
