Sounds like the beater brush is frozen and won't turn. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt, making sure the belt is put on properly.

Why does the brush continue to rotate on bare floor setting as well as using hose attachments?

Hello! The brush roll shut-off feature is on select models. Your vacuum may or may not have this feature. If it does not, the brushes will continue to rotate while hose is removed or in use and at all times while cleaner is on. The vacuum must be in the upright position to lift rotation brush off the carpet when cleaning above the floor. Be sure the vacuum does not tilt forward when doing above floor cleaning. Hope this was helpful!

My brush is not rotating

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear your DC33's brush bar is not rotating. This is likely to be because the brush control on the cleaner head has accidentally set to 'Hard floors'. In this mode, the brush bar will not rotate. Please recline your machine into the vacuuming position, turn it on, and make sure the brush control is set to 'Carpets'.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, as using and replacing the wand will not have any effect on the function of the brush bar. It's also important to note that the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright.

If you would like further assistance after you've checked the brush control is correctly positioned, please get in touch with us directly. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Best wishes,

Jack

Carpet brush not rotating

Did you check the drive belt for the roller? If not do so, the smell was the belt drive burning up.

THis is not a self-propelled vacuum. The problem is that the brushes are no longer rotating on their own. They only 'brush and lift carpet' when I pull backward. I have ahd the vacuum for about 1 year. ...

Sounds like you need to take the brushes off the unit and clean the end pieces that the brushes rotate around. Not uncommon that they get dirty and stop rotating. Clean all debris and add a little WD40 on the end of the bush rods that the brush spins around. Make sure the belt is on properly.

I have a Hoover Steam Vacuum, All Terrain, and the bristle brushes are not rotating. They appear to be seated properly and, the entire vacuum is clean and free of lint, hair etc., so everything is working...

I checked the owner's manual and the parts breakdown for your model F5807. Both showed that your model has a stationary brush strip and not rotating brushes. Is F5807 the correct model number?

The brush on my bagless vacuum won't rotate. It

if the brush doesnt rotate, the belt is either broken or stretched. If you have a Dyson, you will have to replace the entire assembly for about 80 dollars. Other brands you can simply replace the belt for about 5 dollars.
