Check your filter plate to make sure it isn't clogged , that could make the safety valve do it's job and go off.

I have a Pressure Washer with a Comet ZWD 4040 Pump. It recently had a new Unloader Valve fitted. It has suddenly developed a problem, the pressure goes up to 3000psi and then drops back to 2000psi. I...

Derek, Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

I just now happened across your post and note it is 3 months old. Hopefully you already have the problem solved.

If not.. looking at the pump history of having the un-loader valve replaced it sure seems that the current un-loader valve is sticking. When an un-loader valve is removed the internal housing is sanded smooth and everything about the un-loader valve is coated with Lubriplate #105 White Grease. I get the feeling that who ever did the un-loader valve repair failed to sand / clean the housing and use White Grease for the final assembly.

You should remove the valve... Sand the housing and get some Lubriplate #105 white grease (auto parts store) in a tube. Lubricate it liberally and reassemble it. If should work fine after that.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

K5.140 makes a revving noise when releasing the

Before you do the below steps check the water supply inlet screen for obstructions where the water hose connects to the unit. If you notice debris remove and clean the screen under running water with a small NYLON brush.

The bypass unloader valve is triggering earlier than it should. You can lubricate this by adding oil to the water supply inlet (at least 3 oz.) and very briefly switching the unit on then off 0.5 seconds. Then let is sit overnight. The next day connect power briefly and again cycle the unit on then off for 0.5 seconds. Connect the water supply and then purge the water wand hose into a bucket to catch the oil before use. After this restart the unit and operate the wand trigger under full pressure at 0.5 second intervals to ;scycle the bypass / unloader valve inside the pump. This method has worked in about 95\0 % of the machines I have worked on. The oil lubricates and fattens the seals in the bypass / unloader valve. It eihter works the first time or the seals are torn in the unloader valve and must be replaced. With only 3 uses I think your pretty much in the clear and will not need new seals.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I juust put new valve covers on my 02 mustang gt 4.6, what would cause the oil cap to be blown off the passenger side cover?

Sounds like pressure buildup. Did the old ones have a PCV valve or some way to release crank case pressure?

My Karcher vert shaft Honda powered washer cuts out when your washing kinda like when you release the trigger (except you haven't) like the relife is opening early what's wrong?

They USUALLY don't have aa true relief valve, but instead when pressure is up, it prevents any more water from enetering the pump.

REBUILD the valve as usually the O-rings in it are worn.

Excell VR2522 Pressure washer - sudden loss in pressure.

Leaving the engine running for more than two minutes without releasing pressure trigger causes aluminum pump to overheat and causing damage to the purmp, resulting in sudden low pressure. (see page 9 in manual)

Admiral Refrigerator makes hollow ice

Hollow ice cubes are due to low water pressure to the fridge. Water thru the door should have good pressure behind it. This is a good indicator of water pressure. Should be able to fill a glass quickly. Causes for low pressure are self-piercing saddle valves on the water line (switch to drill type (1/4") valve) or reverse osmosis system or filtering system on water line to the fridge. R.O. systems should not be used. Increase water pressure and that will fix the hollow cubes. The loud noise may be the sound of the water valve on the fridge when it is acivated. This sound is normal and some are louder than others.
