Pinnacle Studio Plus 12 for PC Logo
Posted on Sep 11, 2010

A box labelled Abnormal Shut Down Detected appears each time I try to access the program. Once I choose the option to either continue the same project, start an empty project, or open an existing project, a box appears telling me that the Studio program file has stopped working. I desperately need this solved.

I had the same problem and it was a corrupt file. Delete a few of the latest files or videos you have imported and it should be fine. Worked for me.

Keeps shutting down my search engines

Whereas Internet Explorer is a very popular browser, you may have problems with it from time to time. Internet Explorer has been known to either randomly shut down or close pages.
This can be extremely irritating, especially if you are in the middle of a project.
Use these tips to fix Internet Explorer if it keeps closing Web pages.

Start by deleting your browsing history.
Open Internet Explorer and click the "Safety" tab found in the top right corner of the Web browser.
Then, choose the "Delete Browsing History" option.
A box will appear on the computer screen.
Make sure that there are checkmarks next to each option listed in the box.
Click the "Delete" tab to delete the browsing history.
Move to the next step if Internet Explorer keeps closing pages.
Download, install and then run both an anti-malware and an anti-virus software program. Spyware, adware, viruses and other similar infections can cause Internet Explorer to shut down or close pages.
Deleting your browsing history may not take care of these problems.
Spybot and AVG Anti-Virus are two very useful free programs that will search for and remove harmful infections from your computer.
You can download these two programs by using the links in the Resources section below.

http://download.cnet.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html?tag=contentBody;mostPopTwoColWrap
Freeware detect and remove a multitude of adware files and modules.
Go to next step if you are still experiencing problems with Internet Explorer.

Try resetting the Internet Explorer settings.
Open Internet Explorer and then click "Tools."
Choose "Internet Options." Click the "Advanced" tab.
Then, click "Reset" found at the bottom of the box.
A second box will appear on the screen.
Click the "Delete personal settings" option and then click "Reset."
You will need to restart Internet Explorer to finish the process.
Go to the next step if Internet Explorer continues to close pages.
Run Windows Update. Open Internet Explorer and click the "Safety" tab in the top right corner of the Web browser.
Select the "Windows Update" option.
You will be taken to the Windows Update Web page.
Click the "Express" tab on that age.
Windows Update will then check for any updates.
Click the "Install Updates" tab to install any of the recommended updates.

How to Restore a Toshiba L305The Toshiba Satellite L305 notebook computer has a recovery program pre-installed at the factory that lets users return the hard drive to its out-of-box state. Using the recovery feature completely deletes all software and options saved on the laptop, which resolves any boot up problems and removes any virus infections. The recovery option isn't accessible directly through the operating system however, and must be accessed by starting up the computer in a different way than normal. Step 1 Close out any software currently running on your Toshiba Satellite L305 laptop. Navigate to the laptop's "Start" menu and choose "Shut Down."
Step 2 Hold down the laptop's "0" key and press the power button. Keep the key held down during the boot up process until the "Toshiba Recovery Wizard" window loads on the screen.
Step 3 Click the check box labeled "Recovery of Factory Default Software." Choose the "Next" option.
Step 4 Choose the "Recover to out-of-box state" radio button. Select the "Next" button and click "Next" again. Wait for the "Press any key" prompt to appear and tap a key to restart the laptop.
Step 5 Use the prompts that appear on the screen to choose your region, time zone and keyboard settings. Type your new Windows user name and password in the text boxes when prompted. Click "Finish" to load the new operating system....

It sounds as though a DLL or other executable file or settings has become corrupted either at file-data level or in the computer's registry.
The best fix is to uninstall the suite, run a cleaner / optimizer such as Amigo 360 optimizer, to refresh the registry, then reboot and re-install the program from disk/s.

Got Dell Inspiron 2650 2002 from a friend, free. Want to restore to factory settings. How? Installed Windows XP and Norton Anti Virus

Hi and welcome to fixya!

There are two ways to restore this machine to factory settings;

First is thru the Recovdery partition in the hard disk itself:

  • 1 Close any windows currently open and click the Inspiron's "Start" button. Select "Shut Down" and choose the "Restart" option.
  • 2 Tap "F8" when the Dell image appears on the screen. Continue tapping the key until the advanced boot menu loads.
  • 3 Scroll down to "Repair Your Computer" and press "Enter" to access the DataSafe local backup screen. Click "Next." Select "Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options."
  • 4 Click the "Restore without preserving new or changed files" radio button and click "Next." Click "Next" three more times and click "Restart" to restore the disk drive to its original condition. Follow the on-screen prompts to set your operating system settings.

If the hdd was already repartitioned or corrupted, the second option should work:

  • 1 Insert the Dell recovery disk in your Inspiron's optical drive and close the "AutoPlay" window when it appears. Shut down any other open programs. Click "Start" and select "Restart."
  • 2 Tap "F2" as soon as the Dell image appears on the laptop's screen. Scroll to the "CD-ROM" option and press "Enter." Tap any key when you see the "Press any key to boot" option.
  • 3 Press "Enter" when the setup screen appears. Press "F8" and highlight the Dell's hard drive partition. Press "Enter."
  • 4 Follow the instructions on the screen to choose the Inspiron's operating system options. Click "Finish" and remove the recovery disk from the optical drive. Click "Start" and select "Restart."
