There is nothing wrong with your modem. There are modems that when you turn it on, the wireless, dsl lights are green while the power light is red then after a few seconds, the green lights disappear and the red light will turn green. After sometime green light will come back on. This means your modem is restarting and doing a self check.
If the power light stays red, then you a have a problem with your modem.

Cannot connect to 192.168.1.1 to set up wireless in my router

If you fail after ping your IP address then it may be problem in your physical connection,so you should check connection like:

check cable modem status light. If it is solid green, it indicates that your cable modem has a good connection. If the light is off, check modem's physical connection.

Verify that the Internet light on your wireless router is solid or blinking green. It indicates a good connection and correct wiring. If the light is off, check the Ethernet wire's connection between your modem and router.

May be it can be cause of Incorrect wireless network setup & configuration. Recheck and correct the Ethernet connection between your PC and the router device.

Was having problems w/ internet connection. Brighthouse tech just left. Replaced modem and fixed a loose wire at box outside. Still won't hook to wireless and says that it is probably my router

If you have a separate modem and router turn both off and reboot only modem till all lights up the reboot router till all lights up in that order sounds simple communication problem between router and modem. If router modem combo unit disconnect either dsl or cable from router/modem leave diconnected for a short time then reconnect and reboot till all lights up. Hope this helps.

Yesterday had Cable Internet hooked up at new house--when done modem had all lights green, and wireless router connected and worked fine. Now router won't connect to Internet, and USB connection direct to...

Sounds like a problem with your cable connection. Check your coaxial cable, and the splitter from where the cable enters your home. The tech will use a signal meter to measure the quality of your cable, and then replace the wiring if necessary.

I have a linksys WRT54G, and I'm trying to hook up a wi-fi connection. As of now, my internet is Internet Explorer, and my current modem is a motorola SB5101. The Motorola modem is hooked up directly to...

Hello
Try this

1 disconnect all wires, including power from the modem and router.
2 Find reset button on router usually in the back, need a pen tip or paper clip to hold it in.
3 Hold in reset for 1 min.
4 Reconnect modem first,power up.
5 Reconnect router second, power up.

Try changing the ethernet wire from the modem to the router.

So your going to have your cable coax wire to the modem. Then a ethernet wire from the modem to the router, then a ethernet wire from the router to the computer.

Sounds like you may have one wire in the wrong place.

WTF! internet used to work perfectly and now my wireless router is on the fritz and the status light keeps flashing! i have to hook my comp up to the wall to write this message

If the status led light keeps flashing there is a problem on your ISP side. Router is trying to establish connection with internet. Please check led light status on your modem (not router). Also please try to change position of your router as it might be in a "dead spot". For more info about your router please visit: http://www.dlink.com/products/?pid=6

Switch off power to the modem, router and computer. Now switch on the modem first and let all lights on it to be stable.. Then switch on the router and let all lights on the router become stable. Once the lights on router are all stable, switch on the computer and then try to accerss sites.

I have no computer or cable and need to set up internet on my PS3

??? A router will NOT replace your modem; the router won't work without the modem. If you're going to give advice, please make sure it is somewhat correct.

Okay. So first you need the telephone cord to go from the phone jack into the DSL port on your modem. Then you need the Ethernet cable that came with your modem (looks like a phone cord but much bigger) to go from the ethernet port in the back of the modem into the wan or internet port on the router. Verify that the DSL and internet lights are on on the modem.

For the rest of the setup, watch this . It will walk you step by step in connecting your PS3 to the wireless internet. Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

Turn on your modem frist wait until all lights are green>If they dont turn green. CHeck your cables. make sure telephone line is plugged into it or cable line. . There should be a cable pluged in from your modem to your wan port. Then from your router to your computer. Is this a wired or wireless connection.
