My nephew connected my Walkman Pro WM-D6C to a 20V laptop power ada[pter. Needless to say there was a spark and it no longer runs. Is there an internal fuse that has blown or is the problem likely to be more serious? Any advice gratefully received.

Fat chance to repair yourself! we repair that WmD6c but very hard to do!

WMD6C has a pitch control on the back of the unit that can change the speed of the tape, so switch it off, but if that is not the problem then inside the unit it has a servo set speed pot on the main board.
