Question about Whirlpool Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Ultimate Care that was present in the house I rent; thus, I wasn't sure how old it was. It developed a loud grinding noise but continued to work until two days ago when it stopped draining. Today the repairman said it needed a recirculation valve, which won't even be available for over a week because most washers don't use them anymore. He said the washer is 10-12 years old. Do you advise going ahead with the costly repair or putting the money into a new washer?

I would put the money towards a new machine. I would also go with a basic direct drive top load machine. As you can probally see from this forum the appliance repair business is very busy mainly because of the constant electronics failures. If you go with a more energy efficient modern front load machine buy the extended warranty it will be worth it for just one repair.
