Radios that are in "protected" mode often indicate a short in a speaker wire or a really bad speaker. Disconnect all eight speaker wires: white, white/black, gray, gray/black, green, green-black, violet, and violet/black. Turn on the radio and see if it still shows "protected". If it does, the radio is defective. If not, connect each pair of speakers back one at a time and see if it goes into protected mode. The one that causes it is the bad wire/speaker.
Turn off power, unplugg unit, very carefully check speaker wire connections making sure no wires are touching each other or the back of the unit same at speakers connections. Also check speakers. Blown drivers can short terminals internally. This is the most likely problem. Remove the short, unit will come back on
The protect message indicates that the output amp section has a problem. Normally this requires the replacement of the output transistors or the output amp pac. Expect the repair cost to be about $20-$60 for parts plus the local labor rate.

hi, ya absolutly... please check the speaker wires, some wire is shorted, remove all the speaker wires from the system and then power it on to confirm it.let me know
Protect mode would indicate that the system is shutting down due to a fault in the output which drives the speakers.
You can check the speaker wiring, are there an loose or frayed wires? Any small "whiskers" or wire touching anything? Check the wire all the way to the speaker for damage, some pets love to chew wires!
Are you using the original speakers or added extra? The impedance of the speakers must be in the range shown on the back of the unit.
Have you perhaps had the volume up very high? This could result in speaker damage that could also cause this error. Try disconnecting the speakers & see if the unit powers up, if it does then put the speakers back one at a time to discover the faulty one.
If all this checks out OK then the output stage itself is probably faulty & that's a job for the repair shop.
