This is a hitachi model 53fdx01b rear projection tv that normally has an excellant picture. It's about 10 years old.

HI, this is a failed convergence chip that is located on the convergence board. it will need to be replace ASAP. you can just replace the chip or , you can order a new board.
Replacing the chip can be a rough job if you don't have tech experience. if you are a fluid tech and you can solder and know your way around a circuit board, just replacing the chip will cost less. if you are not an experienced TV tech, i recommend a service call to the nearest TV tech to replace the convergence board.

When you turn down the BLUE the TV will give a yellowish picture. That is why the TV has three CRT's, it needs all three colors. The problem most likely lies in the TV's Convergence Circuit. To repair yourself get KIT 10 @ 1-800-458-6053 or www. bdent.com. If not call a Factory Authorized Service Center and have them give a written estimate, avg cost $550.00.
