I tried pluging my Laptop to my Samsung LA40A550 via VGA cable but it keeps saying "mode not supported". Then when I try to search for new devices the TV will just turn itself off and the red light will continue to blink...

the native res. for the TV is 1680 x 1024.
you may want to try a different resolution
like 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768. not the native resolution
of the laptop.

Are you using the the combination Function key (Fn) and either F4, 5, 6, or 7 to select inter/external/both displays?
The PC video resolution should also be set to the TV native resolution for PC display mode.

have u installed the drivers before pluging i the printer but try this after unintalling the drivers

I had the same problem with my Samsung series 6 32" Lcd. After many hours of trying different settings and banging my head on the wall I found the solution. What the problem is your VGA cable not supporting the high resilotion of your Samsung TV. The simple solution is to buy a new VGA cable that supports HD. you can try to put new driver on sounds like it's an older version

Update the video drivers on your laptops. Reboot both devices.

try to replace your vga cable maybe it is defective.

The problem is located in the CABLE, the SAMSUNG LCD need the higher quality cable than others vendors.
Please try it.

use a vga connector. this tv doesn't support pc mode on hdmi. don't forget the 3.5mm stereo jack out fron your sound card to the 3.5mm input(next to vga on tv). you will get 1024x768 res.
