The gas tank has rusted on the inside and need to purchase a new one but can;t find one. It is a valsi 7500 generator with a tecumseh engine.

You could ask them direct. They did have a recall on plastic fuel tanks.

pull the carby down and clean out the corrosion blocking the main jet

find a honda dealer and pray its not expensive... Or find a small engine shop and see if they have some junk generators laying around and buy the best tank they have and make it work...

Valsi 7500 watts/13hp tecumsa engine. Was running fine and then started surging like it was going to die and then it ran out of gas. Put fuel in it and now it wont start. Gets fire and has plenty of gas. Problem???

A couple things you can do here...

1) Drain the tank, blow it dry using compressed air, and get all the rust out that you can. Use an acid wash / rinse to help remove the rest of the rust. Coat the tank inside with a tank sealer like that from kbs-coatings or caswell.

2) Have a metal shop make you a new tank that will approximate the old one.

3) Install a fuel filter that will catch the rust particles (left over after blowing it out) and be done with it

4) Use an external fuel tank (marine comes to mind) instead of onboard fuel tank.

We had problums with this one also. If you absolutely cant find a tank repair it.

A motorcycle shop in your area has no doubt had plenty failed tanks to repair. and then have it plastic coated on the inside.

The problems stem from the use of fuel with ethanol it attracts watter and dosed not work well in a gen set that spends lots of time setting.

Begin using fuel with a fuel stabiliser and keep it full, Air also has water in it.
