I have no driver software to operate this camera

It is not your computer that needs drivers, it is the hardware you need to connect to the operating system that needs a driver. From Windows 7 and up, Microsoft only allows drivers, if the manufacturer asked for certification and the hardware and driver work conform Microsofts demands. If the hardware and driver is certified the driver is also on the Microsoft website. Most of the time if you use new hardware the operating system goes to Microsoft to see if there is a correct driver and then installs the driver.

For your camera, just install the Samsung software that came with the camera. And if you can't find the CD, download the software form the Samsung website, under support.

It is not clear, what kind of software you need. Something for your Kodak camera, like firmware, or software for your computer, like a driver or foot editing software. Or even a Canon printer.
Most modern operating systems deliver drivers that have to be used by the connected apparatus.

Once you have your camera, you then have a choice to make; whether to install the software and drivers that comes with the camera or not. A driver is a special piece of software that allows your computer to communicate with the camera. Many of the newer cameras are UVC, (Universal Video Class) compatible. This means the camera can use standard drivers which are built-in to your operating system (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux) and you don't have to install the drivers that come with the camera. However, some features of the camera may not work without the drivers that come with it. Which features work, depends on the camera. For example, some of my auto focuses cameras won't auto focus using the UVC driver, others will. Some cameras have various resolutions that aren't available without installing the drivers that come with it.

Some time it would be work or not. So install your web cam driver is the best way to get all the features.

The software/drivers from the older Chameleon Mega camera is most likely having a compatibility issue with the newer operating system and hardware of your DELL computer.

With XP and especially Vista, whatever drivers and software are installed, it is very important that it is designed for these newer operating systems and computers.

You should contact the tech support for your Chameleon Mega camera to see if it is still supported for upgraded software and drivers. Something that is six years old is considered ancient when it comes to electronics and computers.

usually if you buy a camera, gadgets etc will bundled with a cd which is driver actually. if your operating system is vista, then you must make sure that the camera will work in that operating system. You can read it on the manual or etc or in the box. install the software in the cd first before you plug the camera into your pc. the software must be included with the appropriate driver.

The PDC 700 camera TWAIN driver is not 100% compatible with Windows Me because it does not support USB downloads.
