Check page 138 of the manual for instructions to reset to factory default settings - also worth trying. Have you tried formatting the card on a PC instead of the camera? What type of card are you using? The camera is compatible directly with CF cards and Microdrives, and with an adaptor can use SD and MMC cards. Possible problems are generally different for each type of card. That said, if the card will not format on a pc, then unless it is somehow password protected or write protected (depends on card type), the fault must lie with the card. Only way to be absolutely sure is to try a new card in the camera, if that also doesn't format then there is a more serious problem. From what you have described so far, it sounds as if you have a CF card, and it is faulty - these cards do have a tendency to do this. Format the cards in the camera. Make sure you download any pictures that might be on the cards first. Use a card reader if necessary.

I have the same camera. It will use up to a 4GB card as standard and up to 8GB with the correct firmware.

The firmware for telephoto converter/ wide-angle converter is included in the attached CD-ROM. Please update it if you have DiMAGE series 7i to A1. Please confirm the firmware version and update it if you have DiMAGE A2 and its version is 1.10. DiMAGE A200 users do not need the firmware updating.
