The tv's lamps life span is about 3,000 hours of viewing pleasure. Some lamps exceeds and some barely reached the 3,000 mark, but when this happened you will not have any pictures showing, but it have sounds. This means that lamp is already burnt out and needs to be replaced.

The Tv's lamp lifespan is about an average of 3,000 hours of viewing. Some lamps exceeds and some just barely reaches the 3,000hrs range before they broke. So this means if you still have sounds and still have the power light when you try to plug the tv and turn it on it means that the lamp needs to be replace. I may advise to call the tv manufacturer in getting the details on how to replace the lamp.

Why would the tv chime on then shut itself off would the bulb have something to do with that?

  • Anonymous Sep 08, 2010

base on my experience as a tv technician if the lamp flashes 3 times (whatever the tv brand is) it's an indication that the lamp needs to be replace. And yes it is the lamp that causes your tv to shut off.

Samsung tv lights flashing standby/timer lamp

Possible lamp or color wheel---remove the lamp and look to see it is not shattered inside.

No picture no sound lamp light and standy / temp light flashing

Two things to look at---------the lamp to see if shattered inside AND with it removed look where it faces at the color wheel--see attached photo.

Look to see if any segments are broken, missing etc. Many of the wheels fail in this way and some will have a high pitched or even fan like sound before they fail.

Some when really bad will make a grinding noise also. The set monitors the speed of the wheel and if it slows or stops the set will almost instantly turn the lamp off(if possible watch from area where lamp is to see if at turn on to see if it for a moment lights or not.

Samsung HL-T6756 DLP TV Standby/temp light flashing and tv won't come on. I have replaced the lamp and the fan is working. Any suggestions?

Remove lamp and inspect the color wheel to see if missing pieces or shattered---it will also just before failing give a high pitched or fan like sound and if running too slow or not at all instant shutdown happens.

Its also possible if you bought a GENERIC bulb--and used original cartridge the new lamp is bad.

Hello, I try to help. But your questions not spesific.
Below are conditions lamp indicators that appear blinking and solutions (for samsung) :

1. If Timer and Lamp blinking --> Auto timer on/off was been set, picture will appear ~ 25 second.
2. If Timer and Standby/Temp blinking --> A cooling fan inside the set is not operating properly.
3. If Lamp and Standby/Temp blinking --> The lamp cover on the rear of the set is not installed properly.

I hope that solve your problem.
Thanks

Tv flashes red then shuts itself off after only on for 3 min

I have not repaired this particular model. But sometimes there is an IC they refer to as a standby IC. It may also be known as a controller IC. I call it the powerline regulator. And in one case the older Sony Projection TV had an audio output IC with a standby built into this IC. So,this advice is refering to a standby IC. And this IC may be in another form already mentioned. Please visit a Sony Tech. The work inside a projection TV is very complicated, you will need to see the specialist. Give them this note and go from here. Let me know how they handle the repair. Thanks for asking and good luck!
