ok, but is the webcam listed in Device Manager ?

and by 'tried everything' did that include going to the ASUS website and downloading the driver for the webcam ? (make sure to specify that you have the 64-bit ver of win 7.)

PS : need correct model number. Per their website...its a letter-two numbers-two letters. so it's K50i(something) [ j-maybe ?]

It lists four different drivers, three specific camera drivers, and a generic one (the second one down.)

The image in your Webcam Uploader window might be inverted because of your camera setting.
To change the setting:If you are using Messenger
Click Messenger and select "My Webcam."
In the window that opens, click the "File" menu, select "Preferences," and choose "Webcam".
Click the "Camera Settings" button.
There is usually a checkbox for "Invert Image" or "Mirror Vertical." Un-check this box if one exists.
If you can't find this checkbox, try searching the other tabs.

Check the WEcam settings. Most WEBcam have a setting toinvert and mirror the image.

go into the view options. and there u can change the image

Download the latest driver of your camera from ASUS support site and install it.

webcam asus k50i drivers can be found at driverupdate us (xp/vista/win7/win8 for 32/64 bit)
It will take 2 mins from you to install... After completing installation go to webcamtoy.com or similar site and check your webcam status

You must install the Generic Microsoft versiom USB Camera from this K52N Camera_Azurewave_VS011_WIN7_64_z5854000205.zip
Or other notebook but azuware VS011.
If after intalling driver, your camera is mirrored and/or inverted you may simply edit the snp2uvc.inf with notepad and find:
Flip and Mirror and change the value from 0 to 1 or from 1 to 0 so to invert or no. 1 equals YES
e.g.:
HKR,DefaultSettings,Flip,0x00010001,1
to
HKR,DefaultSettings,Flip,0x00010001,0

You have to apply the same value to all occurrences though.
