I formatted my presario c 700 laptop with dell's recovery disc for vistas. Now my laptop shows Dells configuration in welcome centre. Also I have problem as many functions have stopped working. I want a...

why are your using DELL any thing on any HP>??? so wrong that.
there is no free anything, (even lunch) for sure not any OS,
no OS stated btw, windows what? (guess at VISTA)
my guess is you want this old dog to run!
an 11 year old laptop.
HP does not sell HP media recovery kits for this old pc. (CD kits)
nor does Microsoft. now. (only w7 and 10)
this PC came with Citrix, OS or windows, VISTA 32 or 64.
Vista is now officially dead at MS, and at HP.(see exceptions)
HP does not sell vista disks, but the drivers are supported here.
as are manuals there, still there, lucky you after 11 years.
hint soon to be gone.! (10 year rule)

Our Compaq Presario V6000 with XP Windows Medical Edition 2005 Serial # CNF6423GR6 has crashed due to a trojan virus that won't allow my computer to boot up anymore - just keeps kicking us out. We moved to...

Reinstall windows system is very easy to to operate but without having a Bootable Disk or that Windows XP Media Center Edition Disc, i think you have to buy a new one or Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition. It's in the market.
And also if you friends that are using any Compaq Presario which they have the WINDOWS CD. Borrow it to install in your LAPTOP.
At least XP Media Center Edition they use.
There is another options on how to put operating system on your laptop. To gather any information or to do at least we have any ideas how to get it.
No need for any Serial #. Genuine Windows Media Center Edition have it's own LICENSE or CD KEY.
Hope this might help you my idea. Good luck!

Compaq Presario C300 Recoivery Disc 2 corrupt

Hi John.

F11 process is not working and you get a NTLDR missing when you turnon the notebook.

Steps to be performed:
1. Perform hard drive self test from BIOS.
2. If it is passed then use retail version of operating system disk to install XP or try using new recovery disks which nay cost you $15.00.

In your notebook model this issue appears if there is any issue with the hard drive.

Not opening my laptop

Here's what you need to do to fix it: Find some way to get Partition Table Doctor (http://www.ptdd.com/download.htm) and put it on either a live boot CD or from a secondary hard drive installation. Once you have that, Scan the partition for errors and select fix boot... Then if you're running Vista get a copy of Vista Recovery Disc (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window... burn yourself a copy of the disc, and run it at the boot of your computer. Once the cd is loaded, click on REPAIR WINDOWS, select COMMAND PROMPT, then use this command: bootrec.exe /fixboot

If that doesn't work use: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
and see if your windows boots.

IF you have windows XP, boot up with the Windows XP cd, select Repair (R), go into the command prompt (selecting which windows installation you want to modify) and then type this command: fixboot c:

See if your computer boots now.... The important thing is to try to repair your boot which has been deleted or corrupted, that is why it gives the error: err2err3

Try different recovery tools like Table Doctor http://www.ptdd.com/ in conjunction with your recovery cds (windows xp installation CD and Windows Vista Recovery Disc)
