Question about Akai PT4298HD Rear Projection Television
This is a fairly common problem. There is a logic circuit on the power control board that receives a switched signal from the power switch on the TV set (or from the remote control unit) to turn the set on and off. Over time the electronic component deteriorates and fails to function.
Have you tried holding the power switch on the TV for several seconds to see if the TV will turn on? Sometimes this will work. Another possible solution is to refer to the owner's manual to see if there is a "master reset" switch or function. It may refer to the function as "restore factory defaults."
If you have tried these actions, and the set will still not turn on, then it is most likely an electronic component defect that would require professional servicing. Consider the age of the tv before calling a repair service. Most technicians will not make a house call for less than $100.00. If your unit is over 3 years old, seriously consider replacing it. J.

You have a bad Eprong which is a low price IC chip that controls your volume. You will have to replace this chip for around $15.00. A tech would charge about $50.
