Greetings,\r\n I have a Epson TM-88III connected to a XP machine via a Dynex parellel to USB converter. I told the client that using adapters like this is iffy at best. I installed the printer using the Epson Advanced Printer driver. Installed on LPT1. The install went fine. I then went into the printer settings and changed the port to USB. The printer is recognized, but the status is always listed as "user intervention required". I started expiramenting and noticed that if I switch the port to "IR" (no idea what that is), sent a test page to the printer, then immediately switch the port to USB -- it will print. Under all other cirumstances (that I've tried) it won't print. I personally think my client should simply ditch the parallel to usb adapter and go with straight USB or straight parallel, but I figured it was worth asking to see if any one had any ideas. Its nothing, due to the misalign of the head. open top cover. pull out paper. insert you finger through that open toward the head push the head downwards. Replace the paper and take printout.
Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.
I have the same problem...Epson does not work with a parallel to usb cable or adapter. If you still want to use this printer you will have to use the parallel port or change the interface on the printer to USB.
I have the same problem...V3 software. have not heard of an adapter. The software wouldn't work with Windows XP or Vista anyway. I upgraded to Editor plus V5 but have kept my old Designer plus on an ancient laptop so I can transfer old patterns. You will also find that your new laptop doesn't have a serial port to accomodate the old cable to bernina 180. Unfortunately it's always the case with updating a PC. Everything else has to follow! My advice, get hold of an old laptop:)
Epson POS driver will not install on a Win2K3 machine due to the InstallShield Wizard w/c checks if your running XP/2K or not.
Download the driver from EPSON POS site & extract the contents first on an XP machine.(Installing the driver will create a C:\Epson folder where ACTUAL driver is extracted).
