Need updated bios for sony vaio vgn-nr160e/s

Hi danessta,

You can download the BIOS Update for the VGN-NR160E/S from the below link.

ftp://download.sony.com/US/pc/PHBSYS-14612500-US.EXE

Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!

During the installation of this update:
  • Do not turn the computer off.
  • Do not allow the computer to enter Standby or Hibernation states.
  • Do not start other programs.
  • Do not connect any peripherals.
Also please make sure that you're installing the Update for the correctly Computer Model.

The Model # of the Computer can be confirmed from the System Information Window. To open the System Information window, open the Run window and type msinfo32. On the System Information Window, you can located the Model Number of the Computer next to the "System Model".

Good Luck!

Please post back if you require any further assistance.

Sony vaio vgn-nr160e with vista, function+ keys wont work

Hi,
To enable the Fn keys functionality, you need to install the "Vaio Event Service" and "Sony Utility Series"
They are available to download as part of a package from the Sony website. Here is the link:

Disk read error

Hey,

If you receive this error in start up and your computer doesn't load windows. It was unable to read the disk.

Please use your recovery discs (or windows installation cd/dbd) to restore the computer. If the recovery discs don't solve the problem and you still receive the same error, the hard drive is possibly damaged. I would suggest to take the laptop to a professional for testing and fixing.

Thanks and good luck.
