If the DVD can detect any disk that you insert but just cannot play the movie
try to download VLC player or you can download codec so you can use the windows media player to play the movie

you can search klite codec from google

I see you posted this back in February. If your hard drive was having the mechanical problems your post seems to indicate, it has probably already reduced itself to shards. If not, I recommend doing an immediate backup of your data and having a technician look at your hard drive.

Re gona throw laptop at wall
then just resinstall windows. Then install sybot search and destroy, and AVG free. Just pop in the Windows XP disc. Restart the computer, when it comes up should say something like press f12 for boot or something. Press it, then select cd, and reinstall windows.
