When i try to play GTA Vice City on my ps2 it keep coming up that it is unable to read my disc when i have just started playing on it...is there anything i can do???

Hate to say this, but your PS2, is having over heating issues. It only takes a few times and it will do this as you described, PERMANENTLY! Try turning the system on, and placing a strong fan underneath the system.

Are you playing the GTA Vice City Story from the Memory Stick or from the UMD.

If you are playing the GTA from the memory stick, I assume you have a customized firmware (CFW). Try to upgrade your firmware to higher version.

If you are playing the GTA from the UMD, update your PSP firmware.

I had this problem it's not from the ps2 it's from the disk. For some reason gta disks don't want to corporate with the slightest of scratches.

It may not be your game disk at all so I'd probably give the alcohol, toothpaste and whatever else you've been using a rest.

My first PS2 used to overheat a lot, so what I used to do was unplug the AC adapter (after shutting it off) from the system when I wasn't using it and that seemed to help.

Also, regular cleaning with a good laser cleaning kit helped extend its life but eventually it just burned out after about two years.

If you have a small electric fan that you can direct at your game system while you're playing, that will help the system temperature stay cool enough to play beyond the 20 minute mark.

GTA Vice City is pretty graphic intensive, and I'm guessing that since you have an older machine it may just be taxing your PS2's resources.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but the good new is that it plays great on PS3.

Just a disc error, the disc may look fine but it maye of been copyed in correctly im affraid, just take it back for a exchange

You should try cleaning the game DVD and the ps2 lens with a dvd cleaner and dvd lens cleaner, if that dosent fix it the laser in your ps2 is dying.

I had the same problem- Wash the back of the disc with windex and a paper towel. It should work because it worked for me.

I have had this problem numerous times. It's a glitch in the game, best I can figure. It corrupts your saved game. You might be able to go back to an earlier save and play from there. But the best solution, if that doesn't work, is to take out the game disc, turn on the ps2, click on Browse (with your memory card plugged in) and delete the Vice City file(s) on there. Then put your disc back in and start over from the beginning. It sucks, I know. I've had to do it. And once I was almost to a 100% completion. Bleh. =( Sorry.

Clean up the Grand Theft Auto Disc. I may have scrathces or smudges that keep it from reading.
