Apparently a spring on my oven door is broken (DCS-RG-4844GG). On the large oven door, the left hinge has no tension in it. I can latch the hinge to remove the oven door for cleaning. However, when I open the door to place or remove anything, the left hinge has to be lifted slightly in order to allow the door to close.

Spring is broken on the side that is 'slacked' without return tension. may be necessary to get underneath the stove chassis. move away from wall, carefully disconnect the gas fitting after turning off the gas spigot. Pull away far enough from wall to 'tilt' the whole chassis rearward to access the underside. Technicians use a 'jack' to raise stove....

KitchenAid microwave oven model kcms 1555. The button for the door does not have any tension as a result the door will not latch close, light will not turn off

It sounds like the door spring had broken. Take the covers off and it should be apparent what had happened. It may be a part you can get at the hardware store or it may be an OEM part.

NN-SN778S DOOR LATCH SCHEMATIC DIADRAM

There should be tension from the spring that pulls the door hook down. If there is no tension, the anchor for the spring has broken off and the outer door frame must be replaced.

How to increase Dacor oven door spring tension

The hinge is most likely out of adjustment as the tension should not have to be much to hold the door closed. The pivot point and the attachment to the door must be correct however.

The hinges usually have a hole exposed when you open the door to put a nail in so the hinges will be held open to work on them.

How do get access to the door hinge of my Maytag CWE4800ACB oven

In first, excuse my poor english if i make some mistake.

I hare repair the same problem. part broken in left side and the door fall.
You have to pull out the oven from the wall, use some objet to support the oven, small table or plastic box if you dont want to put down completely.

You have to unsecure the electric wire connection in back if you whant to pull out enough for remove the left cover. You have to remove some parts in front for acces to screws on the side cabinet.

In my case the hinge was broken, i have soldered and fix again.
If hard to replace the spring in the mecanism, you better to do this on the bench before put all in the side of the oven.

I think the maytag oven have the same problem.
Other problem also is the timer alarm sound in the night went you sleeping, prob whit switch sensitif pc board. Now i turn off the breaker in the back of oven all night, and i sleep good.

Bye..

Door won't latch/microwave won't turn on

The door does come apart. Open the door and where the hinges are, there are openings where the hinges enter the door, this plastic piece (goes all the way around the door) With a small flat blade screws driver VERY carefully pry it (plastic) off, once off, check the latch end for the spring, typical failure for a Sharp is the little tab that the spring hooks to on the door, the only way to repair this so it will last is to replace the door frame. they are not too expensive, about $50 or so Part# FCOVB166KIT
is the door frame assy

Microwave broken door latch

The door latch head (hook) is pretty easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

If you gently push up on the door latches (hook-like devices on the door) there should be spring tension. If they just flop right up, the spring is off.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

We have critical safety & disassembly info at our site, linked here.

Normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.
