Ihave a hayward 1hp inground pool pump and can not get the impellar off

You will need to hold the motor shaft at the back of the motor with either a 7/16 open end wrench, or either armature tool. You can then use a closed face impeller wrench to remove it. Make sure if there is a screw in the center of the impeller to remove it by turning clockwise.
