Hi
The error indicates "Recovery system rotation count reached 50000" or "end of life". The printer has reached maximum expected printouts.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Hi again,
The Service Manual says that any EXX.XXXX error is a Service Call; you need to ask for tech support from Canon authorized techs. However, your post "...even the canon technicians are confused..." means you already did and unfortunately no corrective actions were done. If you can contact them again, you can try asking them to do a firmware upgrade/update using GARO Firmware Update Tool and an L Printer Service Tool. Firmware update/upgrade. Performing an upgrade/update is akin to resetting the 50,000 count down to 0 and/or the end of life back to start of life.
If you want to try a DIY. Even if the error is "Recovery system rotation count reached 50000" or "end of life", you can always try to fool the printer into thinking that it just started its life or that the 50000 has not been reached. This could be done in Service Mode by doing a clear of all the factory counts and re-initializing the major components.
Canon IPF5000 printer counts:
1. the print length;
2. number of ink tank replacements;
3. carriage driving time;
4. number of cleaning operations;
5. number of cutter operations;
6. and too many to list
and stores them in the main controller's EEPROM as a service mode counter. Most would have to be reset back to 0.
Enter the Service mode following the procedure below.
i. turn off the printer;
ii. turn on the printer while holding down the [Paper Source] button and [Information] button]. Keep pressing the above buttons until "Initializing" appears on the display;
iii. "S" is displayed in the upper right corner of the display showing the version;
iv. after display of "Online", pressing the [Menu] button displays the SERVICE MODE top menu and the MESSAGE LED flashes.
The Service mode is added to the options in the Main menu. The Service mode can be entered even in the error status (when an error message is shown on the display) by turning the power off and then using the above key operation. it would be required to manually go through all the counters reset and re-initialize most major components.
Would appreciate updates on any development (or even the lack of)
Cheers.
