I can see the shutter clicking with out my doing so . Hence I am not sure if the next frame is loaded or it has clicked. I am wasting few shots every roll of film. Any solution

FE is great camera. Yes it probably need good cleaning and many time FE will come out good. There are few reasons for this problem. 1. winding lever may under cocking the gear so that it is not catching to next stage. 2. shutter unit may be wearing down and need adjustment 3. Mechanically lever or gear may bend due to mechanical features. Most repair shop will charge around $100 to make it good for this model and any local repair shop should be able to help. Good luck. -James For further assistance email, go to www.camerarepairjapan.com

YES, THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS THAT AFTER 25 YEARS OF USE YOUR POOR NIKON PROBABLY JUST NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING! I DON'T THINK IT IS ANYTHING A GOOD CLEANING CAN'T CURE. I HAVE INCLUDED A COUPLE OF SHOPS THAT REPAIR NIKONS AND GIVE FREE ESTIMATES. WHILE I DON'T ENDORSE ANY REPAIR SHOP PERSONNALLY, I PASS THESE ALONG FOR YOUR INFORMATION. I HOPE THIS HELPS. I REALLY BELIEVE THIS WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEMS. ALSO, BY THE WAY, I ALSO HAVE A NIKON FE AND IT'S A GREAT CAMERA. ENJOY!

The Nikon N65 has a built-in film advance (power winder) so all you need to do is take a photo and it should advance. If no, the film isn't loaded properly or the drive is broken.
Is it the viewfinder or the film advance lever? If the viewfinder is not showing any image and the shutter is not getting released, then it could be a problem with the mirror box.To confirm, remove the lens and see if it gets released. To align the lens, you have to take it to the nearest service center (or repair shop).
It is absolutely OK, my dad too has one (not older than urs). make it tighter, but u need some screws drivers (specially for cameras). Open the camera and tighten the screw holding the winder arm. Try this only if u have experience otherwise u may end up with a scramble of camera. About the F-Stop, i have no idea why this is so... might be the technology is gone too advanced compared to the 1978.
It's not very easy- you have to remove the rewind knob and dials at the left end of the cover and the speed dial and winder arm at the right side. Then the 5 small screws around the cover. It is a delicate task because under the cover there are some very sensitive electronics. If you are determined to go ahead with it then your best bet might be to get a service manual.
Thanks for the suggestion .I will try that out.
