Olympus DE-510 Zoom When I turn camera on, the screen has a red T at the top, with a box saying Yes, and one saying No. The line at the bottom says Go>OK. If I click OK, I get the same screen again. If I click Yes, I get a Card Error message. I cannot take a photo. I am on a cross country trip, and don't have my manual, but I sure would like to be able to take pictures of the Rockies! I know the camera is old, but I love it. Please help me to get it working again. Thanks, Toni Sinclair

I tried to find more information on the zoom error, and couldn't find much, but I did find a free manual, which might help:
http://www.retrevo.com/support/Olympus-D-510-Zoom-Digital-Cameras-manual/id/200ag611/t/2/
There is the possibility that your problem is a corrupted memory card, or that the zoom is stuck. Try a different memory card in the camera, if you have one, and see if that helps. For the zoom problem, you can try to spray some compressed air into the lens assembly to free up any dirt or dust that may be jamming the gears.
Here is a web blog that details things you can try to free up the lens:

Wish I had more information for you, but perhaps this will help.
Good luck, hope you get those pictures of our beloved Rockies, and thanks for using FixYa.

Choose YES for the Format option. Allow it to finish. Should work fine then.
Possible defective card if does not work after full format. Do not use any "quick format" option.
First time must be FULL format.

Clearing pictures from olympus D-510 zoom media card

The manual for your camera is here

On page 55 of the PDF file it is explained how to delete images selectively.

On page 125 it is shown how to erase all the images at once.

Attention, the page numbering of the PDF file and the manual itself are not the same. PDF-file page 55 is manual page 45.

Hope that helps

Olympus E-510 70-300zukio

The markings on the lens barrel are for macro mode purposes. When the zoom ring is set for 300mm that is the distance you are shooting at. It will zoom the barrel all the way out to 300mm if it needs to to help to obtain focus on the subject.

Hope this clears things up for you.
