I am a beginning amateur astronomer and received a Meade Polaris 60EQ-D as a gift for my hobby. I can't see anything. I have ensured that all the caps are off. I can see distant objects through the viewfinder but not through any of the eye pieces no matter how much focusing I do. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong and I am on the verge of calling it quits. Please help.

Put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the focuser. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow if you have one. Try focusing on a distant object during the daytime--- again.

See the picture above? put the diagonal into the focuser and then put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal. DO NOT USE the 2x barlow if you have one.
Take the scope outside during the day time and practice focusing on a distant object------ make sure the lens cap on the front is OFF.
Your scope only has ONE main LENS in the front. You change magnification using the eyepieces. If the main lens is broken you must contact Meade here: http://www.meade.com/support/index.html
