How long is a freeze cycle on your unit? How big are the cubes that it's dropping? The three beep error indicates that the unit exceeded maximum freeze time.

  • Joe Palazola May 31, 2014

No one really answered so here is the rest of my answer. The unit SHOULD make ice in around 40-45 minutes easily. If it goes 60 minutes with no indication that there is ice made it will go into a harvest mode and restart in freeze. It does this 3 times and if every one of those three times it has no ice indication it will lock out and start the three beep error code. Resetting the machine involves accessing the control board and with the power on and the unit beeping you have to press a reset button on the board. I recommend that a novice DOES NOT reach in there with their bare hand and maybe get a pencil or plastic pen to push the button. Now, what indication does the unit need that ice is present and what are the possible causes. FIRST there is a float on the front of the machine located next to or near the water pump. This float tells the unit the trough is full of water and when the float tells the unit that it is out of water THAT is the indication that there is ice on the plates. THE ONLY cause of the unit not getting an indication of ice being present is the float not dropping. The float may not drop for TWO reasons. First (and most common) the water inlet valve may be stuck and letting water constantly fill as it is making ice. Second the float itself may be sticking. Those are the two most common reasons. HOPE THIS HELPS.

My hoshizaki ice machine KM-900mrf model beeps 3 times and stop making ice. After reset it starts, but stats beeping again after an hour.

Have a look at the side of the evaporator; there is a probe (thermistor) attached to it that tells the control board when to initiate the harvest cycle. make sure it's clean and attached properly and doesn't need replacing. If hitting the float switch initiates the harvest cycle it sounds like you have a blocked/ scaled water tube or switch housing. take off the bottom of the switch assembly (black rubber bit) and clean through to the water chamber. run a cycle of descaler before trying again.

I worked on a hoshizaki km-500mae when i turn it on the first cycle it makes good ice but after the first cycle it makes little pieces. why?

time the cycle. if it is only running about 5 minutes and going into harvest, look for sump loosing water. Look at where the unit drains (like a floor drain) while the unit is running to see how much, if any water is draining. does not take much to make an early harvest. also, sump may not be filling up completely but with just enough water to satisfy the float.

The ice maker make too much ice

Too much ice is usually and indication that the bin thermostat is not functioning correctly. It has either come out of it's holder, is not calibrated properly, or has lost it function and needs replacing. The thermostat "Kills" power to the control board when Ice comes in contact with it and shuts the machine down. Hoshizaki says it should happen within 6-10 seconds of ice contact after the end of a harvest cycle. I would start there first.

Does a Hoshizaki Model F-1001MWH have a Defrost cycle? As far as I know the "defrost" is the harvest cycle correct?

Ice makers defrost is the harvest cycle. The purpose of a defrost cycle is to clear any ice build up, right?

Hoshizaki KM-900MAH Ice Maker it sounds like it is making ice and is freezing it but its not dropping ice any solutions?

when the machine first starts, it begins it's cycle in the harvest mode. If the float switch is stuck, it stays in the fill/ harvest mode. Compressor runs and water circulates but no ice is being made. I'd start looking there. Turn the machine on, let it run for about 3 minutes, they very lightly tap the float switch. If it starts making ice, bingo, theres your problem. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

Hoshizaki ice machine

The machine will continue to run water all the time while in harvest mode. The control board blew, and just needs to be replaced. Controls boards can fry without any other signs of anything else being bad. Hoshizaki ice machines dont have a over heat relay that shuts it down upon oerheating if it is the control board

Hoshizaki KM-1600S too much water supply

If water is standing in the bin the drain is clogged. If water is raining down into the bin, Machine may not be level or the drain on the ice machine maybe partially clogged. If machine freezes up water will rain into bin too. Water fills ice machine while in harvest and continues to fill until ice machine`s suction reaches 49 degrees and the defrost timer times out.(usually 1-3 minutes after suction line reaches 49 degrees)
