I have a Makita 5005BA circular saw and need to replace the switch. The new switch I purchased is not hard wired but has 3 clips. I need a wiring diagram to see which wire goes on which of the 3 clips ( clip is a not the word I want but I bought bought female clips to attach the wire to so I can then attach that to the male on the switch.

When using the gauge on your saw it is off on the 45 degree cut? If so you might have to use a tri Square every time you want to cut a 45. Sometimes the lock gauge for the 45 angle may be off some. When you put a tri square on the board you cut it is not a true 45 even though the saw says it is?

My Makita circular saw won't turn off. What can be causing this?

You could check the switch prior to buying and fitting a replacement with a simple circuit tester. (Statically with the power off). Unless you have shorted wiring around the switch, which is highly unlikely, I would say that a new switch will do the trick. Cheers Bob

Brushes arcing

Brushes arc for several reasons. If the spring over heated and lost its tension or the copper line from the brush to the cap broke/burnt off or the brush wore down too far to be pressed on the armature properly. The replacement brushes you need are Makita part number CB-124. If you still have exessive sparking after replacing the brushes you may have a bad commutator on the armature. The only way to fix that is to replace the armature, Makita part number 512831-0.

Circular saw won't turn off

you have a switch problem that needs to be fixed ASAP, you can go to either makitausa.com and type in your model number or to ereplacementparts.com for a replacement switch. If you have a local repair center they usually have them also. MAKE note of the wiring before removing the switch. Let me know if you need more assistance.

Replace switch on chop saw

unplug tool, remove the top of the handle assembly, either take a picture or write yourself a wiring schematic before removing anything, I would suggest taking a photo so you know where the safety device goes and the wiring, loosen the screws and remove and replace the switch.
