SOURCE: PHILIPS MEDIA CONVERTER

First, I would go to the Philips website and download the updated version of the Philips Media Converter - it will recognize more file types. If the new media converter still does not recognize your files, download a program called Riva FLV Encoder, and convert your video files to AVI format. The Philips Media Converter will then recognize the videos.

SOURCE: I can not get videos onto the philips media converter

The Philips Media Converter doesn't naturally recognize FLV format, which is what most YouTube videos are in. You will need to get a free program such as Riva FLV Encoder and convert the FLV files to AVI format. Once they are in AVI format, the Philips Media Converter will recognize them, and you will be able to convert/transfer them to your mp3 player.

Philips media converter wont work it says my device is not connected and conversion wont start at all

For some reason, if you have Adobe's CMM installed on your computer, the Media Converter for Philips is unable to start up and will error out every time. You have to uninstall Adobe's CMM (any version), once you do that, the Media Converter for Philips by ArcSoft will work as it should. I found this conflict when I viewed the error in Windows Event Viewer where it listed that the conflict was being caused by the Adobe CMM.dll, I uninstalled Adobe's CMM from my system and the media converter works fine now.

How do i download videos to my MP3 player model number sa1vbe04aw/17

GoGear uses a certain format of video, so you must first convert your videos to that format in order for them to be reproduced in your player. First make sure you install Media Converter for Philips which is on the cd, if you don't have the cd you can download the software here http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA1VBE04AW/17&scy=us&slg=en Once installed, connect your player to your computer with the usb cable, then open Media Converter for Philips, add your videos to the software then click convert and it will convert your files and add them to your media player.

If you have lost your installation CD, you can get the Philips Media Converter directly from Philips website. Make sure you only download the Media Converter for your exact model #.

Why do i have to pay for support when i bought the product

Sounds like Philips reached an agreement with Arcsoft. Since the video conversion software is Arcsoft's, Philips does not support it. The last time I remember, Arcsoft charged for most tech support. Welcome to corporate America.

Download the upgraded version of the Philips (Arcsoft) Media Converter from www.usasupport.philips.com. If the upgraded version still does not recognize certain file types, download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder - it is supposed to be a program that converts video formats to FLV format, but it has the neat feature of being able to do the opposite. Any video file that the Philips does not recognize can be converted to AVI format using Riva. Make sure the audio feature is enabled in Riva or you will get picture and no sound. Once it is converted to an AVI, the Philips Media Converter will see it, and you can either convert the file to a folder, or you can transfer it directly to the GoGear. Note: the Philips Media Converter will not properly convert video files that are longer than 15 minutes long - in order to transfer an entire movie, you will have to use video editing software to break the long file into 15-minute chunks. You will then have to convert the chunks using the Philips Media Converter.

Click on Start --> All Programs --> Philips Digital Audio Player -> Philips Media Converter (or just straight to Philips Media Converter - varies slightly by model).
If it's still not there, go to www.philips.com/support to download the Media Converter Software
