You need 100 MHz SDRAM SoDIMM 144 pin ram to match this laptop. You can put in a maximum of 512 MB (take out the current memory and put in 2 256 MB sticks). One source for this memory is http://www.pcmemorystore.com/Ashton_Digital-MaxiMate-420-ram.htm .

I hope this helps.

I'm sorry I misread your current memory. You just need to add one memory stick in the second slot.

Windows XP is no longer supported by Microsoft. You need to up-grade to Win 7 or buy a new computer.

I have been given a memory stick with photos on and my computer says it cannot find a driver

Microsoft 98 don`t support plug and play - that means to run a memory stick on a 98 computer you need to install the drivers for that particular stick . Win xp and later version support plug and play - that mean without a driver installtion of stick the memory stick will work
You can use the same stick on xp or later version - it will work fine
happy xp :-)

Hi,

You don't need to buy another license for XP, you can use your old license.

I have MS Money 1999 operating with Windows 98 which will no longer open except in safe mode. Can I download a version of MS Money to use with my back up disc - using Windows XP Home

You can in fact run it in Win 98se Mode in XP, you simply have to set compatibility for win 98, right click the install, sertup, install, .exe and choose properties, then set the compatibility tab for Win 98. also do as Administrator, and also install as Administrator too. You may also need to alter some of the "other" setting on that tab too, you may have to experiment a little to get it to go... Failing that you could use MS Virtual PC, and set it up running in that, you could make a Win98 Virtual machine and load it and run it on that?

How to configure network in windows 98& xp

Windows 98 isn't networkable, it needs to be upgraded to at least Win 2000. Also if it's XP Home addition that isn't networkable, it needs to be XP Pro.

Steven,

it could be a heat realted, can you get to the cpu cooler? most laptops i have worked on this is accessible by lifting the keyboard.

Give it a blow out with a compressed air can and see if that works, if not try lifting the cpu cooler and cleaning off old thermal paste and reapplying new.
