When I flip out the LCD Display on my DCR DVD403 the screen just stays white. But if i touch where the touch buttons are they work, i just can't see anything.

Common problem. There is a flexible cable that goes from inside the body to the flip out LCD screen. More than likely, this cable needs to be replaced. Time for Professional service. We can help!

Maybe you need a new battery: if does it turn on when is plugged only the battery and it will stay on for only a bit or when you try to record it turns off the problem is only of the exhausted battery.

The optical sensor may be defective. First try and clean with a clean white lens cleaning cloth.

If the touch screen of the Camcorder is not working, pleasefollow the troubleshooting steps.

Please make sure that you're using fully charged batteries.

Turn off the Camcorder and turn ON again and check the operation.

Try resetting the Camcorder by pressing the reset button behind the LCD panel.



Note: 8 represents the reset button on the above figure.

If the issue persists again, please perform LCD screen Calibration and check ifthat helps.

This often happend, the touch pads behind the LCD harden after a time, heat from hot rooms or sun make the pads hard, the same happens to touch screen on phones too, sadly a newish idea, but not a good one I find.
You need to clean gentry the LCD with clean damp cloth, no detergents, nothing just damo cloth, I mean damp not a bucket load okay, and things will be ok.

The problem is a bad CCD inside the camera. I Sony was providing free service for some of their other models but failed to provide service (recall) on these models. contact Sony at 1-866-703-7669

I had purchased SONY DCR HC 42 in july 2005. now i am facing a problem with the LCD display. whenever i open LCD screen nothing comes on it. view finder is working fine. kindly help me out Pritu

It's either a broken position switch or more likely a torn ribbon cable. It can be fixed by any competent dhop that services Sony cameras.
