Maytag Atlantis Clothes washer. Unit spins but clothes remain very wet. Where do I start to look for the problem???

Number of things. The drain pump bearing could be making the noise, but if the water is out of the washer and the clothes are still very wet then you may have a transmission issue, including the brake or thrust bearing. The thrust bearing is more then likely the problem...part number...12500036. Not the easiest fix you might want to think about getting a tech to look at it...hope I've helped in anyway.

Intermittant blockage in the collector tank ...a sock maybe... blocked pump....loose spin belt or fluid drive if fitted.

wet as in standing water left in tub, or wet as in extra drippy???
standing water would be bad or pluged pump, drippy would be bad belt, pulley or tensioner assembly..
also if pump turns hard or has seized, the seal/bearing may have seized, causing a slowdown in spin speed besides burning the belt, leaking, and making a mess..

lift the washer on its side and see if it has a drive blet that broken for the spin cycle.

If the washer doesn't reach it's proper spin speed, the clothes may be wet at the end of the cycle. Since you have replaced the belt, it could be that you have a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Check for damage to the pulley and shaft and for free play. Also make sure that there are no clothes or foreign objects caught between the inner and outer tubs or something causing friction on the drive train. Hope this helped.

Hi, this is transmission failure. the clutch has been damaged. I recommend replacing the transmission and agitator assembly as well.

http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php From what I see, your machine has a drive belt. Check it for damage or see if it has anything on it making it slip. Check the pulleys to make sure they are not worn out.

It sounds like the high speed of your motor is not functioning which tells me it is either burnt and needs to be replaced, or that the control dial is malfunctioning. Because those motors have two or three speeds, usually one of the speeds of the motor is malfunctioning. Always check connections too, and see if it functions in the spin on another cycle. It sounds like you might have a broken belt or the belt just slipped off the pulley!
