I have a GE side by side refrigerator Model No. tfx26krda. It has an ice/water dispenser in the freezer side door. The water tastes terrible. I cannot find the water filter. I have searched inside and under the front grille with out finding it. Does anyone know where the water filter is located on this model?

SOURCE: freezer burn on ice-cubes

Well, this is just a weird question I wanted to ask.
My fridge isn't fancy, so we've got the ol' ice cube tray's, fill them up, and the like.
Okay, I've noticed that fountain drinks have ice that is pretty clear looking.
Ours in the freezer are kind of frosty white and I think my dr. pepper taste horrible when I use the ice cubes here.
Why in the world do my ice cubes taste weird all of the time?

Ha!

SOURCE: Ice and Refrigerator and Freezer smell like alcohol chemical

All items stored in the refrigerator and freezer should be stored in sealed packaging. Frost free refrigerator operate with a very low humidity and will pick up odors from products. Somewhat of an ozone smell will be in some frozen foods. This is a normal condition. Deodorizing packs are available on the market to absorb odors. Baking soda does the job in most cases.

SOURCE: GE TFX22CR Ice Dispenser inoperative

Check the ice maker see it is in the right position, maybe you can try pull out the ice maker and clean it and push it back, make sure the position is right.

SOURCE: Water from Ge profile refrigerator

The water filter for this refrigerator is optional. The GE part number is: WR97X0214, or one of the box stores also carries a universal filter. Just make sure it for a ¼ inch line. The water filter is located on the back side of your refrigerator, and will have to be pulled out from the wall. Use caution not to break the water line when pulling/rolling it out.

SOURCE: Smell & bad taste of water from refrigerator dispenser

depending on the brand and the style, locate the filter and change it out. Please note that you must empty out the remaining water from the refrigerator cause if you don't, when you change out the filter you might get the same taste for a while until all the remaining water is replaced by freash water.

Why would ice from the front door have an off taste but the ice in tray in the bottom freezer tastes fine?

I don't see from the literature that this model dispense ICE from the "front door." The dispenser on the left door seems only to dispense water. In your configuration the water comes through a completely closed system until it reaches your glass and should therefore not have an order or taste different from that of your cubes in the bottom Freezer.

Nasty tasting ice cubes

Change the supply line to the plastic tube line or copper. Do not use a braided plastic or metal braided line these will make the water taste bad. Changed mine to the plastic line and cured mine, no filters needed.

Ice tastes like plastic. New LG French Door.

I sure hope you are using an in-line filter for starters, then if the ice still tastes bad, check the source line.

Ice maker and now water dispenser does not work

Do you get water to the connector at the bottom of the freezer door ? if you do then the water pipe in the door is probably frozen - read new door ! if not then check thw electrical connector at the bottom of the freezer door as they have a habit of corroding.

Water dispenser not working but ice maker does

The water line freezes inside the freezer door. There is now an add-on water line heater you can install to thaw the line.
