Sangean ATS 808A-replacement aerial antenna

Mine is doing exact same time, I will take it a part and try shorting both battery connector + and - to dump memory.

Try checking the correct power supply, and batteries. ("E" = error)

Hello, I assume that this only happens when you are using it on batteries and the unit works when plugged into the mains. If this is the case it most likely is a faulty or dirty connection in the main battery chamber. Clean all contacts reload new batteries and try again.

Radio Shack sold the same radio as the DX-390 and parts may be gotten from there.

If its not a micro-p glitch, sounds like the radio was subject to a spike or surge wile plugged into the AC adapter. If the "power" light stays on all the time, thats what happened. Believe me, I was Sangean America's tech from 1990-1995.

The fix is to replace a transistor, or fet in the main pwr supply. (Close to where the adaptor plugs in.)
I wish I could give more details, but its been 14 long, long years.

Don't be mis-led by the working display. I had the "no power" problem with a working display too. I measured the voltage of the two AA batteries. One was 1.33 volts and the other was only 0.76 volts. Replaced the weak AA and everything worked. I suspect the 'enable' circuitry fails around/below 2.1v.

Either this is typical shortwave reception characteristics, or you intermittent antenna connection.
